Quote of the day (3) By Aristotle: The Nicomachean Ethics

Aristotle, whose name means “the best purpose”, made significant and lasting contributions to nearly every aspect of human knowledge, today’s quote is taken from his best known work on ethics, Nicomachean Ethics.

“Anyone can become angry-that is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way; this is not is not easy”

Nicomachean Ethics is a philosophical inquiry into the nature of the good life for a human being. For Aristotle, every human action aims at some good, and the good which is chosen for its own sake rather than as means to an end is the highest good.
Truly, no one is insulated from anger; it reaches into our lives in one way or the other. But problem arises when it is out of balance or wrongly expressed. Aristotle may have given us one way of channelling our emotions and making sense of the senseless.
